WHAT IS CDL ?
A commercial driver's license (CDL) is a driver's license required to operate large, heavy, or placarded hazardous material vehicles in the United States for commercial purposes
HOW LONG DOES THE TRAINING TAKE
The program is 200 clock hours (five weeks) in length, consisting of 60 hours of classroom instruction and 140 hours of practical and behind-the-wheel training.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLLMENT
These are the industry standards which include;
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Meet the Texas DPS Residency Requirements.
- Complete the Department of Transportation physical examination.
- Pass a Department of Transportation drug screen.
- Hold a valid Texas driver’s license prior to enrollment, with no outstanding tickets or warrants.
- Provide a copy of your social security card or proof of your ability to work legally in the United States.
- Provide a copy of your high school diploma, G.E.D.,or successfully pass the written Learner’s Permit section of the CDL exam
- Complete your Admission Application
- Be able to read and speak the English language
- No felony convictions involving illegal drugs in a commercial vehicle
- No DWI violations within the last 5 years
Do I need to be a U.S citizen?
You will need to provide a valid Texas Driver License photo identification and social security card, as well as proof that you are allowed to work in the United States.
