Requirements

Admission Requirements

To enroll at Pennies Trucking Academy for CDL driver training, you must meet the qualifications set by state and federal agencies.

Industry Standards Include:

Be at least 21 years of age
Complete the Department of Transportation physical examination
Pass a Department of Transportation drug screen
Hold a valid Texas driver's license prior to enrollment, with no outstanding tickets or warrants
Provide a copy of your social security card or proof of your ability to work legally in the United States
Provide a copy of your high school diploma, G.E.D., or successfully pass the written Learner's Permit section of the CDL exam
Complete your Admission Application
Be able to read and speak the English language
No felony convictions involving illegal drugs in a commercial vehicle
No DWI violations within the last 5 years

Important: All documents must be current and valid. Copies will be retained in your student file.

Medical Requirements

DOT Physical Examination

All students must complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination performed by a certified medical examiner. This physical ensures you meet the medical standards required to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely.

Drug and alcohol screening required
Medical certificate must be current
